Japan

I'm watching the enws on the BBC website, and holy fuck. I don't know how people can talk about anything else right now.

except that I can. Because after a day of checking the internet news feeds, and then 40 mins of the bbc news stream, I felt weakened and oh so sad about everything and I did start having other conversations.

This is all so, so sad. (that's the earthquake/tsunami, not having other conversations).

My heart goes out to the people of Japan. Can't begin to imagine how frightening it must be :-(

I see your point. I woke up to a Twitter feed full of news and personal experiences from Japan (William Gibson, @Great Dismal, has been doing a great job of collating them) and haven't yet got my head around the scale of the disaster there. On the other hand, I feel like I personally have nothing much to contribute to the dialogue about it. There's no point trying to raise awareness about the events when everyone is following it on the TV and internet but I still feel pretty embarrassed to be tweeting or blogging about my own daily concerns. Sigh.
