Ragnell on the monstrosity of DC's treatment of Wonder Woman in BN

Go read it here.  She's put it far better that I could have done, even if I could write about it, I instantly lost the will to live when I saw the horrible horrible costume.

The rest of Blackest Night is pretty much great.  I did still enjoy WW: BN 2, but that doesn't mean there aren't a truckload of problems with it.

I know. I read it, and enjoyed it, and yet, after reading Ragnell's objections, I could perfectly understand WHY. You will notice of course, that the only two women in the group are at the polar extremes of emotion, both love and hate.

'Cuz we're just so feminine I suppose.

I thought Diana made more sense as Hope, then Compassion.

If they wanted her to be a Star Sapphire, they could have put her in something more like Star Sapphire Miri's outfit which looks more like a stewardess from the 70s.

That said, Wonder Woman spent almost all of Final Crisis with an ape face working for the bad guys. At least she is involved here. I'm just trying to look at the bright side

@ Sally: I know. :( The other thing that's been bothering me is that up until
that issue Mera had been calm and in control. When I read it I decided that she'd just got really fed up and decided to let rip on BL WW, as she was sick of this shit happening.
But really, given her previous characterisation, she should have a green ring.
Now, giving her a red ring, combined with WW's pink ring, it just reeks of shoehorning them into inappropriate roles, just because.

@ Anj: To me, Superman is hope and after reading Ragnell's commentary I agree that Diana is compassion.

And yes, Miri's outfit would have been better. I'd understand if Fire were to wear that costume, or Starfire, but not Diana, no way.

And you have a point about Final Crisis. But on the other hand, I refuse to be placated jsut because she's involved.

DC should feel very very ashamed of themselves right about now. They've made a major fuck up in what was an awesome story.
