Cass and Steph get benched in the new DC universe

Crissposted from DC Women Kicking Ass:

Notes from the DC Roadshow: Well, that’s that, isn’t it?

Bleeding Cool has posted reports from yesterday’s road show in Texas. And here you go:
You won’t be seeing Donna Troy yet in the new DCU, nor the Stephanie and Cassandra Batgirls. They haven’t been killed off though, just benched.
And the new readers they are targeting?
The target audience are men age 18 to 34 though they do realize that they have readers in other demographics.
I’m going to take a few moments.

Yeah, so my first reaction was what the fuck? So was my second one.

Men age 18-34. Man, I'm 35 and I heart comics like crazy. Even the frustratingly misogynistic ones. Even the ones where only white guys are superheros. At least leave me a couple of awesome girls.

Oh man... I luv Cass + Steph!! °___°

And also, CraftyReader you're a year too old... DC doesn't care about you.. (I'm being sarcastic here).
Man... US comic publishers need to widened their horizons... No wonder European comics are doing so much better (in Europe) compared to US mainstream comics..

I knew Steph was getting the push which was annoying enough but Nicieza seemed to be setting something up for Cass.

You know who reads every comic I put down on the coffee table or bring into the house and leave within sight? My 9 year old daughter. You know who will be buying and reading comics long after I and others in my sex/age demographic no longer give a shit or are dead...if the genre still exists? Yup, kids (who will become teens and adults) like my daughter.

In the immortal words of the Joker "Think about the future!"

*facepalm* DC, don't screw with us! Be nice to us fangirls and quit rebooting every 5 years or so. It's hard to keep track of which character exists in THIS universe!- ealperin
