I reckon that's how he wrote Hell and Back. Think about it--written after all the others, atypical storyline that doesn't really fit the setting, and a female lead who, while she's utterly passive and drawn as pneumatically as the rest of Miller's characters, is not actually a prostitute, stripper or buxom barmaid.
Maybe next time someone can put a gun to his head and make him draw an action girl who isn't a prostitute.
